Meet the Maker

Hello! I’m Sarah!

Most of my adult life has been spent running my own business designing wedding flowers. I took a weaving workshop on a whim in February of 2020 and loved every minute of it. As you know, just a few weeks later the world shut down due to the pandemic. This meant that all of my weddings and events were cancelled and I suddenly had a lot of extra time that I wasn’t used to having. I still had a strong need to create, so I dove into weaving and fiber art full force.

My love of flowers has definitely made an impact in my weaving style. I love to design with color palettes from arrangements I’ve made, seasons of blooms, and will even consider the subtle color variations found in a single flower petal. My weaving style is more organic, and I weave in similar clusters and growing patterns that you would find in nature.

Do you have something in your life that you love so much, its influence bleeds into other areas and hobbies? Flowers are mine.

Please don’t make me choose favorites, but if I had to, here goes:

Color // Always different shades of pinks, but also warm peach, dusty yellow, and neutrals. If I can’t weave with those colors then I’ll usually choose a mix of blues.
Food // Fresh fruit and pizza, but not together.
Flower // Sweet peas in the spring and garden roses in the summer.
Hobby // There are way too many. I love weaving and flowers obviously, but also calligraphy, organizing, graphic design, playing the violin, and would love to get into woodworking and pottery someday.
Vacation // Bora Bora for something tropical and Park City UT for a weekend away.

I met my husband over the phone (yes, like on a phone call. This was before dating apps!) while we were living in separate states but working for the same company. I’ll never forget the time I flew across the country by myself to meet him at age 20 (what was I thinking!?) and am so thankful he ended up being a good guy. We’ve been married ten years, have two adorable children with a third on the way, and live in the Chicago suburbs.

Thanks for being here! Come hang out on instagram if you’d like to get to know each other better!
